Fantasy Games Unlimited
Fantasy Games Unlimited is a role-playing game company mostly active during the late 1970s and 1980s.
Founded in 1975 by Scott Bizar, the first publications were Gladiators and Royal Armies of the Hyborean Age. The company then published role playing games from freelancers.
FGU stopped its activities in 1987 but kept the copyright over its publications.
A reasonable generalization would be to say that; although a lot of FGU's output mirrored more mainstream Role Playing Games by bigger companies (usually TSR) they were almost inevitably more detailed and complicated e.g. Aftermath! vs TSR's Gamma World or Space Opera vs Traveller. Despite or because of their complexity they are remembered with affection and still played with enthusiasm by many of them.
