Battlesystem is a tabletop miniature wargame designed as a suplement to and for use with the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. It was first published in 1985 and was for use with both Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and the Basic/Expert Dungeons & Dragons (see Differences between editions of Dungeons & Dragons). In a Battlesystem game each miniature represents 10 troops or one commander or hero. There are no statistics in the game for any troops or characters, instead all are derived from the relevant Dungeons & Dragons publications. This means that any creature from the Monster Manual or similar publications can be used as 'troops' with their in game points cost based on the XP reward listed for killing the creature.
